I've been running Marcus again recently, and to be cheeky I've been using his Master-specific scheme (2 enemy models must gain the Beast characteristic, and die while they have the Beast characteristic.)
Because of that, I've been trying to figure out when, exactly, his "Primal Reaction" trigger is applied.
Common Example:
Marcus charges a softened up, non-Beast model. He hits it, and activates his automatic Primal Reaction trigger.
Assuming I don't flip the Black Joker (which I've done more times here than I care to remember,) the defender will gain the Beast characteristic after being damaged.
However, if Marcus does enough damage to kill the defender, does the defender die before the Trigger is applied?
I found a great breakdown of the steps involving damage resolution Keltheos put up in April, and going by that, it looks like you don't hit the "after damage" step until after the model has been killed.
Thus, if Marcus kills a model with his melee strike, they will not have gained the Beast characteristic prior to destruction, so I don't think it would count for his Scheme. Also, since the model is removed from play before the Trigger can be applied, I'm assuming it also would not count for his one Manifest requirement (since there is no model remaining to receive the Beast characteristic.)
Apologies for what may be an obvious question; I want to make sure I understand the trigger timing correctly, as this has an effect on how difficult or easy it is to achieve both his Scheme, and one of his Manifest requirements.

Toch wel efkes verduidelijken (voor degenen die ons gevoel van humor niet echt kunnen plaatsen).
Fabian is geen valsspeler, iedereen interpreteert wel eens iets verkeerd.
Dus mensen heb geen schrik om tegen Fabian te spelen, hij zal u niet in't zak zetten waar ge bij staat.

Het is fijn dat we onszelf en elkaar kunnen verbeteren en terecht kunnen wijzen. Het zou spijtig zijn als we dat niet zouden durven doen.
dit bevestigt voor mij dat de timing en interactie bij Malifaux complex en soms onduidelijk is. Daar zal wel verbetering in komen, het spel groeit nog, naar mijn mening.

Voor alle duidelijkheid: de regelinterpretatie is correct. Dat stuk over die valsspeler (dat bij deze ook verwijderd is) was een grap.

RMs hebben de zaak al opgeklaard, er was een misverstand. Marcus maakt zijn target wel degelijk eerst beast, en dan pas dood.
