Cheesy  (vreemd)

Mortenbra was retreating through the swamps. She had hastily patched up her jacks, Deryliss was swung over the back of a deathripper and her remaining thralls limped behind. The soggy ground posed no difficulty to her arachnoid undercarriage, yet still her advance was slow. The recent defeat weigehd heavily on her and she was reluctant to return to the Cryxian high command to report loss of their territory.
She had a single scout report from Skarre's Satyxis, indicating that Mohsar was pressing on towards the coast...perhaps there was chance to redeem herself by halting his offensive after all...perhaps she could decrease the abuse she would surely suffer at the hands of of her commanders. Skarre would not dare, but Terminus would have no qualms, she was sure.
The thought of the angered Lich Lord was sufficient to decide the matter. With an extension of her will, her jacks changed directions and the undead followed without question or comment. She would march again and cut off this filthy druid spawn from whatever it was he hoped to find. perhaps if she could offer his soul to Terminus, her earlier failure would be overlooked...

Tagrosh yawned. He pointed at the corpses of the gatormen he had recruited for this battle and the other mercenaries, the pigs, quickly disposed of them. This had been far too easy. Apparently the druids hadn't considered this location to be of import, otherwise they would've maybe brought actual weapons; instead they sent a delegation that had been more suited for diplomacy than for battle. Now they wouldn't do much of anything anymore except fertilize the soil of their precious forest, and Tagrosh wasn't really the negotiating kind anyway. More the taking by excessive force kind, and for now he was quite satisfied with his spoils.

That night Saeryn reported her victory over Grissel's army to Tagrosh through the link they shared. Both forces had suffered negligible casualties but her angel had managed to end the battle before it had begun in earnest by skewering the singing troll. In the mean time her sister Rhyas was still stalking the invading Cryxian forces of the pirate witch. Soon she would confront them. Back at the campfire Tagrosh smiled; the prospect of more bloodshed and devastation in Everblight’s name, in his name, would fill his dreams tonight.

Irusk was smiling and it was a sight that Sorscha hadn't seen before. In the flickering light of the great campfire she thought his smile had something creepy and as she looked over to the Old Witch, she knew that the old woman had seen it too.
Irusk stood up and started pacing around the campfire. Something was occupying him but she didn't know what. They had come here to talk about the next steps to be taken in this campaign but it quickly became clear to her that Irusk had already made plans and they were expected to follow them without questioning. But of course the Old Witch had plans of her own and she had told him plainly that she was following her own plans and that she was not one of his little pawns on the board. Sorscha had some respect for this old woman due to her ties with Prince Vladimir but she, now more then ever, was sure that the Witch was a factor in the Khadoran Army that was unreliable!
Irusk had demanded that the Old Witch defended against the prominent attack from the Cygnarians but she had told him that she was going to attack the Cygnarians on another front. Angry he had turned to Sorscha and had told her that in that case, she had to take up the defence against the Southeners while he would defend against the unsuspected attack from the Protectorate on the other side of the island.
But now, as he was pacing around the campfire with that frightening smile on his face, Sorscha expected him to start yelling at the Witch again but in the end he just smiled.
"Time to go!": the Old Woman suddenly said and as she stood up Scrapjack, who had been standing a few meters away, came closer so she could lean on him to get up. But Sorscha wasn't fooled by this, she knew that the Witch loved being theatrical and that, although she was very old, she was still a very dangerous entity! Looks deceived and in the case of this woman, looks were very decieving!
As the old woman and her trusted Jack wondered off, she looked back at Irusk and she could see that his face had changed! The smile had gone and it was as if a fire was burning in his eyes! She felt pity for the forces of the Protectorate!

A New Age Dawns – part V

Even dapper was Morvahna.
Hihi.

Krampen.
Nog steeds bloedverlies.

“Tranen over niets,
Een strofe onbeschreven,
Verdriet leidt tot hoop “
, herinnerde Kaya zich.
Hoop had zo dichtbij geleken.

Kaya slaat Rhan neer. Tenslotte is zíj de Akela.

After days of stalking one another, the forces of Everblight and Cryx finally squared off in a wooded valley. Rhyas had seen this Pirate Queen before, through her sister's eyes, but she had never faced the witch herself. She decided it would be prudent to allow the Cryxian forces to make the first move but soon came to regret this as the Deathjack, the spearhead of Skarre's forces, stormed forward and belched out a cloud of noxious fumes, shielding it from attack by Rhyas's swordsmen. This forced her into a bottleneck and gave the Cryxian troops a definite edge, especially when Skarre used her blood magic to bolster them. At the same time the ghost pirates were tearing up her right flank. In return her own troops managed to whittle down the pirates little by little, resulting in a war of attrition the likes of which had rarely been seen. In the end the only ones left were Rhyas and the Deathstalker, facing off against Skarre herself. After playing a game of cat and mouse in which it was never certain who was playing which part, Rhyas finally managed to land a mind ripper, knocking Skarre senseless.

Glad it was over, Rhyas walked over to Skarre while in the background the Deathstalker went back to the field of slaughter to collect her trophies.
"That was quite a fight you gave me, pirate lady. I'd ask you for your name, but I'm afraid you won't be speaking for another day or so." She sat down on a nearby low wall and checked her own injuries, which were, all things considered, minor. Just a few bruised ribs and a nasty, self-inflicted cut on her left arm. She made a rudimentary campfire and dragged Skarre next to it.
"I usually don't talk much, too burdensome, but I've got a message for your Lich Lord Terminus. Be a doll and tell him Lord Thagrosh himself will be coming for him on the eve of the full moon. In the mean time I hope you won't mind if I take a little reminder..."
With these words she took her ritual bone dagger out of its sheath, held Skarre's left hand in her own and with one, clean cut took off the thumb. The pirate witch, barely conscious, didn't react much to this mutilation, nor to the cauterization that followed. The flickering flames filled her mind and eventually she passed out entirely.

When I said,  "go on write the battle report " I didn't mean make up stuff that happened afterwards.  Wink
Mutilating my commander will have dire consequences.

Just plain lucky, you were, that the plains were icy and slippery.
Since your bitches are more accustomed to those environments than mine.

All in all a great battle, one for the books, and lots of bodies to enlist in my army. Don't be surprised if you'll see a familiar face or two when next we meet.
You take a finger'I'll take your arm.
